Medium Rare Artists, Anna Gregor, (b. 1993, La Mesa, California) is a painter who received her BFA from Parsons School of Design in 2019. Concerned with problems inherent to communication – particularly the roles of sincerity in expression and mediation in perception – she uses paint as a means of negotiating the relations between painter and painting, viewer and painting, and painter and viewer. She also explores these problems in a complimentary, yet distinct, writing practice.
Gregor has pieces in an upcoming exhibition at Gallery MC and has exhibited her paintings at in “Beyond Landscape” and “Fire in the Wet Lab” at the 25th East Gallery. Her paintings have also been featured in the New York Poetry Society’s Blog and as the cover art of the 12th Street Journal. Philosophy of the Encounter: Helene’s Story, a video that resulted from a collaboration with artist Tatiana Istomina, has been shown at Triangle Arts Association and the Wythe Hotel.
