“I like making paintings because it feels good to make something, especially something that is supposed to be looked at. I also like making paintings because I don’t have to say much, I can just paint, like making noise without sound. I like that there’s a long history and tradition of painting. Sometimes, in the studio, I feel like I’m in Chauvet or Lascaux, making my own cave paintings. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, but I can’t think of any picture worth 1000 words. I mean maybe a few sentences or a paragraph at most. A lot of the time, less it more, a picture is worth whatever is there.”
